E-ZPass transponders

I would expect many individuals to get themselves in a predicament by forgetting to remove the sticker when trading in or selling their vehicles in the future. I wonder if the glass shops can transfer the sticker to a replacement windshield or whether a new sticker must be procured?

Put the sticker transponder on this “sticker shield”, then put it on the windshield: https://www.amazon.com/STICKER-SHIE...=1725222340&sprefix=stickershi,aps,117&sr=8-1

It use it for my registration stickers because I have heat-rejecting film on my windshield.

For the last few years, new FasTrak transponders have been batteryless. They don't beep. The latest version is a small RFID sticker that goes on the inside of the windshield. The older hardcase transponders had either a non-replaceable lithium battery or a replaceable coin cell depending on the model.

My parents got the new type (without a battery) for their Tesla. It's got the "CAV" sticker on it and should register for free/reduced tolls during HOV times. It's a little weird with the switch that doesn't beep, but I guess it's really low powered and only needs RF to power it.

When the toll evasion tickets come in you know the transponder isn't working. 😅
