the pun is intended.the black soft top on my 89 suzuki sidekick is dying and i would like to replace it with a brown/tan one.however the only brown softtop i have found still in production is around 400 dollars. so i was thinking of getting one of the 130 dollar white tops off the 'bay and dyeing it.has anyone here tried this?any sucesses ?tips?tricks?i want a decent looking end product. i'm having to take this route as money is tight and SWMBO comes first.

Dyes are very sensitive to photofading and thus your dyed type will discolor. Also, many brown dyes are blends of red, wellow and a touch of blue dye. In these, one color will fade more rapidly. Then the beige will turn orange or green.... Better to pay for the right thing to begin with.
