DVD format?

I am going to make a copy of my computers installed files as suggested by DELL. I have DVD-R disks. Are these the correct DVD disks and do I need to format them before downloading the data? Thank you.. Ed Hayes

I'm assuming you were prompted by a Dell application to make recovery discs?

DVD-R should be just fine. No, you will not need to do any formatting.
