Durablend or Maxlife?

Besides "seal conditioners", what difference has anyone noticed between Valvoline Maxlife (semi-syn) and DuraBlend? Are they basically the same thing? I would assume DuraBlend would also "condition" my seals simply because it contains dino. Any thoughts?
 
The three answers above cover about everything. So if you don't have a leak or considerable consumption prob, I would choose the Durablend, not quite as thick but will condition the seals as much as most oils in its class would.

It doesn't make seals swell.
 
I may not be able to speak to the properties of the Valvoline syn blend, but I have experimented with a syn-blend vs. Maxlife.

I did a controlled experiment with a few types of oils, Pennzoil Conventional, Castrol Syntec blend, and Maxlife. I filled three cups with the oils, each cup containing a 2" piece of old valve cover gasket from 2.3 ford L4 and one of the oils.

I had my girlfriend and nephew examine(for an unbiased opinion) each of the pieces of gasket after they had been submerged for 4 weeks, they both noticed that the maxlife was the only oil which physically softened(not swelled) the gasket material, the Syn blend and Pennzoil Conventional did virtually nothing to change the properties of the gasket compared to the control piece.

That's right, it's so thick, you'll need a bigger starter motor just to turn the engine over.

Only when its cold, "W" number means something but not as much as some say it does when its nice warm summertime. -20 is a different story than 80 degrees outside

Nice experiment!

*And even if it is still "Thicker when its warm" - SO WHAT!! It will flow easy, i dont understand that, if you let the motor run about 20-30 seconds what is the difference in 10W or 15W vs 5W or 0WW at already warm, "i turned the car off now i went inside and came out 15 minutes later it didnt cool all the way back down" start-up?

....not much.

Well, that is wrong. Maxlife bottles don't have the starburst, and they are on the thick side of each SAE grade. This is common knowledge here. Look at the data sheets.
