Well, for anybody who may care, I ended up ordering a set of Continental ExtremeContact DW. Summer rubber only so I'll be using the OE wheels/tires for a winter set until they wear down and then they'll get a true winter set of tires.

Is there any reason you did not get the Extreme Contact Sport instead? DW has been discontinued and replaced by Sport.

I'm guessing you got a good deal on it, but if you ever have to get a replacement, it might be a challenge. Plus, the Sport is supposed to be an improvement over DW.

Thank you for the update

The DW was recently replaced by the ExtremeContact Sport. But if you got a good clearance price on the DW, that's good too

Yeah they were extremely cheap. 84.00/tire = $366 + $69 shipping and Continental has a $70 visa prepaid card through the end of this week so I got them for basically the original $84/tire when they were originally $148/tire.

Yes the new Sport is replacing this and I think it's safe to assume that's why I got the deal that I did.

FYI all of their ExtremeContact DWs are on sale because they're getting replaced so if anybody needs a summer tire.. I'd recommend them based on reviews and price alone.

Yeah, it would have been nice to get the newest(assuming it is better all around) but the dollars talked to loud as nearly 50% cheaper.

Good deal. I paid $145 each for the Sport in size 235/45/17 at a local DT, so yeah, a huge difference. But in this size, I couldn't even find DW. Not sure if it was never offered or was already sold out.

Thanks, Yeah I've heard there are better and there are stickier but for my application I'm not putting big power to the ground, not autocrossing it, and I'm a very conservative driver... All the while having a much better and stickier tire for the summer months than an all reason.

I think it will suit my needs very well. Probably even overkill but when it comes to safety, overkill is good.

How are you liking your Sports so far?

Too early to tell, plus I only bought 2 for now, so it wouldn't even be fair to give a review until I get the other two, probably next year.

One thing I did notice right away is that they do flat spot when sitting overnight and then take a few miles of rolling down the road to even out again. Alas, this is typical of most/all summer UHP tires, at least in my experience. The fact that BMW steering system is very sensitive to these things doesn't help either.
