I love fruit, and so do fruit flies. Hence this particular pest has invaded my home. A swarm of them has taken up permanent residence in my kitchen garbage can. When they sense fruit ot peels and skins, they rise in a swarm like a nano cloud, looking for a feast. They thrive and clearly have a good old time. For a while I used to bait them with apple cider vinegar laced with dish soap, which means they fall into the vinegar and drown. Having all those dead flies in my kitchen is a little disgusting. Today I took delivery of a Venus fly trap. It is small but equipped with many hungry mouths. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

I got a bunch of them in my apartment. Apparently there was some food matter in the garbage disposal that attracted them. They seem to be mostly gone now. Didn't leave any fruit in the apartment for the long weekend and I was gone.
Or the cat ate them.

You can't keep things like orange skins etc in your house..they are "fruit flies" Always keep fruit residue in a closed container. Once you get them they are almost impossible to get rid of.
Stop eating fruit= problem solved

Block the ftain with an upide bowl, a saucer, or a fine mesh strainer. Turn on the water, then spin the blade. Sort of a fast Lingchi.
