I see this happen to the old Benz cars. Often it is because those diesel engines keep on turning without anything other than basic maintenance.

Its very common and usually a combination of trailing arm bushings, worn shocks, and worn spring mounts.

If the wheels are out like this /\ its trailing arm bushings.
 
Dodge Darts, and Ford Mavericks were also bad for that. I had both over the years, and both had air shocks.

My 3 darts and a Valiant were like that. I just put those clamp-on coil springs on the shocks to fix it. My Maverick was fine, but my Granada is less than level when full of gas.
All of my GM fullsize 71-76 were tail draggers as well.

Yep! Did that same thing on my Granada, and it had a much better ride than the air shocks.
