This was in Mom's VUE (Ecotec). The filter was in excellent condition; you could barely tell it had been used. I measured the media at approx. 108 square inches (72" x 1.5"). If I recall correctly, this is somewhat more media than either the Bosch D+ or the Mobil 1 I dissected previously. The pleats were absolutely uniform and the glued seam was very difficult to get apart. Oil used was Pennzoil Conventional 5w30.

Filter. My pictures of the unrolled media are too low quality to bother posting.

I think my old Yamaha 3-wheeler had a bigger oil filter.....

OVERKILL compares this cartridge filter with his M5 filter, and this one is small. The cartridge filter in the E430 is almost twice as long as this one.

Now now, what are we, men comparing cartridge length here?

Seriously though, the M5 cartridge is huge, that wasn't my benchmark. I was thinking the 3-series filter, which is still significantly bigger than this. This cartridge stuck me as incredibly tiny.

It's the same size or maybe a little bigger than the filter for a 5.6L Nissan V8.

This is the filter out of a 328i (M52 BMW):

Thanx for posting!

Looks like this one didn't kink like some do. Do you torque the cap to spec or just by feel? I'm curious to see how the Baldwin I have in now comes out.

Just bumping to make a correction. I actually measured the filter element at 72" x 2.5", for a total of 180 sq. in. of media.

I'm not sure how I got it so wrong before.
