draining the oil on dana 44 differential?

it's on a '96 ford bronco 4x4, front differential.

i don't see a drain plug.

i'm guessing that you would need an oil transfer pump to get the old gear oil out of the fill hole.

if this is the case, are the 12v. pumps you power from the vehicle's battery up to the task?

The "front cover" on the TTB axle is the axle housing itself. In other words, you can't remove it. You would have to remove the entire diff from the axle housing, which involves completely disassembling the front end. Obviously, it's much easier to just suck the oil out of the fill hole. You don't need any special transfer pump, a simple manual suction gun works just fine. (Basically just a huge syringe)

^^ This or a fluid extractor. Just be sure to drive the vehicle on the freeway for 30 minutes before you decide to extract the gear oil and get it warm or you will be there for a long time.

Meh, I've read too many negative reviews about most drill pumps so I decided not to get one. I use a hand pump extractor for my Dana 35.
