Here's a link that explains the DOT codes for brake pads. Apparently these codes can be found on the back of the box and on the pads. I hadn't heard of this until last week and I'm not sure if it's common knowledge, so I thought I'd share it. There is a typo though: the high-temp/low-temp friction numbers for the FE pads are reversed.

A couple of years ago I bought a set of Jasper brake pads from PartSource for $20 cdn. I was quite impressed with how much better they felt than my previous pads (unknown kind) in terms of feel and resistance to fade. I found out why when I was talking to a buddy of mine last week. He told me that when he went looking for pads for his Stanza the only FF pads he found were the Jaspers and the Nissan OEM pads. I had never heard of pad ratings before, and neither had any of the people at the parts stores he went to. It's only FF for me from now on.
