I have a 2010 Hyundai which recommends either DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid . I have no idea what the factory fill was but coming up on two year mark and believe it's time for a drain & fill ...which would you choose and why ?

I wouldnt worry about it too much, if it says either.

Id probably look for the HD DOT 3 or an LMA (low moisture absorbing) DOT 4.

I would choose Pentosin DOT4 LV or ATE SL6 because they have a lower viscosity that is supposed to make ABS brakes work better.

I do have ABS brakes - so a lower viscosity brake fluid is better ? Does DOT 4 have a lower viscosity than DOT 3 ?

Valvoline Dot4 seems to be the best bang for your buck especially if you can stack a sale with a coupon or etc.... I run this in my Nissan without issue and will be going in my Dodge this summer.

Get either. Really.
You are not racing and needing a few extra degrees boiling point.

But be careful with your bleed so you do not admit air [like letting the reservoir run dry]. ABS systems can be finicky to bleed air out.

It isn't that DOT4 alsways has a lower viscosity than DOT3. It varies.

However, Pentosin DOT4 LV and ATE SL6 are a little different from ordinary DOT4 fluid, and have an extra low viscosity. That is why I only recommend Pentosin DOT4 LV and ATE SL6 in cars with ABS brakes.
