The last resident in a block of flats due to be demolished cut his own head off with a chainsaw to highlight the 'injustice' of being asked to move out, an inquest heard today.
Desperate David Phyall, 50, plugged the electric chainsaw into the mains and attached a timer to the socket.
He then wrapped sellotape around the machine's trigger to secure it in the 'on' position and tied the handle of the saw to a table leg to hold it steady.
Mr Phyall rested the saw on his neck and waited for the timer to go off.
The Black and Decker chainsaw sliced through his neck in an instant but kept going for a further 15 minutes.

From the UK...shocking. I guess he didn't have enough kids to get a 5 bedroom house from big G.

HOLY [censored]!!

That is one of the craziest and saddest things I have heard in a long time!

I could not picture being able to plan that all out.

Well thats two less to worry about.

Seriously... its sad that they are so screwed up, but all the same, they are adults who make conscious decisions... crazy ones but decisions all the same.

Unfortunately we cant afford to keep them in jail or institutionalized, so they cant be a burden on society anymore - were out of money. Apparently the families cant deal with them... anyone have any other good ideas?

I agree this is sad but I also agree with what others have said as far as what else are we going to do with these crazy people? I have thought of uses for people on death row or prisoners for life such as medical testing or im sure the military could find some use for them such as findings land mines and similar things. Now the teenager is a little different. He probably had time to turn his life around.

So now you are equating all mentally deranged people with murderers?
And with the number of death row/lifetime inmates that have been exonerated the past couple of years through DNA testing review in their cases I would be careful what you wish for.
What planet are you from?

You sound deranged yourself, a perfect subject for what you propose.

I'm sure that was a tongue in cheek suggestive remedy/purpose for the challenged members of our society. While many don't have time to bother with such matters ..they're going to be there whether you like it or not. I'd say a decent percentage of the population can be designated with some issue. The term "having your act together" is way under appreciated for the depth of its truth. Some are fortunate enough to be highly functional and bury their dysfunctional aspects well enough to hide in plain sight.

I'm sure that we've all met someone who is a "corn flake". They're one corn flake away from genius ..and one corn flake away from the funny farm. Most mundanes just have less potential on either axis. Stability/volatility defines them otherwise.

Mother, PLEASE!!! I'd rather do it myself!!!

Similar to what I call the 'sharp stick politicla party', where people essentially keep poking themselves with a sharp stick by sticking to political dogma that is obviously not working. Must be be fulfilling, like some modern flagellant movement.

I do not think I got my point across. I am not equating the mentally ill to murderers. I was trying to say, although not well, that I understand peoples earlier post that there is not much we can do for them. However I think we could find a use for people on death row instead of executing them or leaving them in prison for life. I was not making my suggestions for the mentally ill. They can not help that and in no way was I suggesting they go find land minds. I did not word it well at all and I apologize for that. I do stand by what I said though for convicted murderers. Sorry to offend.

Why? There's always an abundance of cross hairs looking for targets of opportunity. The reaction can sorta be looked at as a booby trap ..but it's more like a gauntlet that you're running all the time and just don't know it.
