Dealers wants to deactivate the heated wiper washers because it can cause fire. Thats what they told me. There's a tsb or a recall afaik on this but I always refuse the work sine they works perfectly!

One good flush beats 2 ineffective ones [stubborn floaters and such].
I stick with the Prestone or Turtle Wax low temp stuff, year round.
One product that will burn off ice is called "Volcano Juice". It comes in a spray bottle and has a high concentration of isopropyl alcohol (I think washer fluid uses methyl). A few years ago I was leaving work and realized my reservoir was almost empty, so I dumped a half bottle of Volcano Juice in. First time I hit the washers, all the ice and crud just melted instantly - then the interior of the car had a really high concentration of iso fumes. Good thing I don't smoke...
Oh, and as to the water conserving toilet issue, one word: Toto

Tonight I stopped at Wal-Mart and got Prestone's yellow stuff (incidentally, there's a $1 rebate sticker on the bottle so it'll cost me about $2 when I'm done), ran the washers enough on the way home to make the "low washer" light come on, and emptied the whole gallon into the reservoir, and then ran the washer again to (I hope) flush out the rest of the old stuff in the lines.
I was debating mixing some ispopropyl alcohol into my old stuff to give it a boost, I'm finding stuff online that isopropyl alcohol may not be so good for the pump and hose life if it's used in the fluid. Anyone have any problems with this? I'm probably going to keep my old stock for summer, but am curious.

I bought a case of Peak blue at Sams only because it was $10. I did make sure that it was -20 and not +20. No problems thus far.
I had the windshield washer fluid in my 1980 Firebird FORMULA for about 20 years or longer because I never had to use it due to only driving it in the summer months and only on nice days. So one day I said to myself: "I better change that stuff out". So, I got a piece of hose to syphon out the fluid and WOW! I thought I took a drink of moonshine. I don't think that the stuff really goes bad!

Methanol and isopropanol are both pretty popular washer fluid ingredients. I'm sure car companies make their washer tubing compatible with either. They're both alcohols and pretty similar chemically, I can't see any reason to worry about them.
Though too much isopropanol can actually give a higher freezing point... just like 100% antifreeze has a higher freezing point than 50/50. Go easy on it.

Why don't you guys just put a piece of cardboard over your windshield and under your wipers over night to prevent an icy windshield?

The washer fluid doesn't go bad any quicker than whiskey does.
It's quite possible that the car got snowed on, or otherwise got wet before parking. The water thae wicked in the spray nozzles and froze overnight.

i went through this, this week, only it wasnt just a little frost, i had a thin layer of ICE on the inside from about 6 inches from top, all the way to the dash.. i freaked as the car had only been sitting for 8 hours, I drove it home "peeking" .. by the time i got home i had alot of water dropplets on the dash and glass, ran in the house and came back with paper towels. never had this happen before. today it was even colder and there was a tick of frost in the driver side corrner, but nothing else. still confused. and no the windowns were all up sug and tight. My only thoughts are maybee when the new front glass was installed 3 years ago was put in it wasnt dont perfect.. but i think i would have noticed something over the past 2 winters..

It could be moisture from all the slush on the floor mats.
When the car heats from the sun or temp warms during the day thawing floor mats or moist damp air from inside the car builds and can not get out. best thing to do is not close windows tight but if you can keep one or two windows cracked overnight or whenever you can to let the moisture out.
