Does oil in a bottle go bad??????

You can keep it for much much longer than that and not worry about it.

I was the most "non hoarder" ever, but I saw 225 qts. of Pennzoil Conventional and MC5000 for less than a dollar each. You bet I bought it all.

You don't know the circumstance...sometimes there are very good reasons.

Additives DO settle out, so the container must be shaken to remix. Can do this with quarts and 5 quart jugs but, how do we do it with 30+ gallon bulk containers. This is the reason General Motors requested that their dealers don't us larger bulk containers that will hold more than a 24 months supply. Ed

Buying 225 quarts at a time is a bunch unless you have a fleet of vehicles you are maintaining.

At 5 quarts per change, that's 45 changes.

Modern vehicles getting 5,000 miles of service per change yields 225,000 miles.

At 15,000 miles per year, that's 15 years of oil.

Your results may vary...

I don't hoard but, like you, I do take advantage of sales that occur to replenish my supply.

I try to keep a couple of changes for each vehicle on the shelf in my garage. And I'm always looking for a deal to add a couple of jugs to my small stash at $5/5 quarts.

In the last few years, restocking cheaply with the latest, greatest oil hasn't been a problem.

Thanks for the answer to my question I couldn't pass up the deal which was 3 cases of synthetic Pennzoil for 77 bucks 6qtsan oil change it will last me a year

I maintain:

2007 Honda Odyssey (wifes)
1997 Chevy pickup (mine)
2001 Mercury Marquis (sons)
2000 Chevy Silverado (adult daughters)
2002 Lincoln Continental (adult daughters)

Annual mileage varies greatly with these 5 vehicles. For example my truck goes 20,000 miles per year, sons car only 2000 miles per year.

So after about 3 years, I have used about 100 of the 225 qts. At this rate it will last me about another 4 years, for a total of 7. Perfect!
