Does it matter whether E10 vs pure gasoline?

Here we have Two stations that brag about having Ethanol free fuel but both are on the other side of town and charge more for their fuel.

I do fill the lawnmower can a couple of time a year there.

Have found out that keeping tires pumped up (I always check them in the morning before the vehicles are driven every few weeks) and run a couple pounds over the recommended amount. On a trip with a lot of highway driving I run 5 pounds over the recommend amount.

Driving a bit slower helps too and more than makes up for the Ethanol in the fuel in my opinion for what it is worth.

So the 10% ethanol in E10 has no energy content at all? You'd get as far with 9 gallons of gasoline as with 9 gallons of gas + 1 gallon of ethanol? In a car engineered for E10?

16.5 MPG (including into in strong headwind) with 91 octane 100% gasoline.

15 mpg on 91 octane in Iowa; less headwind.

(16.5 - 15) / 15 = 10%

I did not claim the car was engineered for E10. It was the '63 Ford in my signature.

ethanol is a great engine cleaner and octane booster....

but... very hydroscopic... so volume at a gas station is critical. THe higher volume at the gas station, the fresher, the fuel should be.
