Does grease in driveshaft get consumed?

So I just put 10 pumps of grease into the front and rear slip yoke zerks of my driveshaft and didn't see any purge out. But my question is if Nissan wants me to lube the driveshaft every 10,000 miles where does it all go. Does it drip out of driveshaft, get burned up?

Nothing on a car has a perfect seal, especially something that experiences countless thousands, maybe even millions, of rotations. As that grease heats up it thins out, and over time it loses its viscosity and will find any way out that it can.

It's no different than the oil in your motor or transmission. Even in a system that doesn't leak, those oils degrade from time and heat and have to be replaced.

Does the effort level change on the gun handle at all? Check all surfaces, the grease may be exiting in an odd place.
I didn't feel any resistance change from getting firmer or what as I progressed on the slip yoke zerks. The U Joint was easy since I can see and hear the old grease purge out around 5 pumps so I stop pumping.

Could just be a really large volume to fill. I have not seen grease zerks on driveshafts in quite a while but our 2010 4Runner had a few.
