Earlier today I read a posting of a late model super duty 6.7 diesel owner in Australia that states his truck didn't have DEF.

It made me wonder, does Ford market some if it's 6.7 diesel super duties in some countries without the DEF systems?

Why not? Euro automakers sell cars in the US without an OPF (Otto Particulate Filter).

I believe diesel trucks like the superduty 6.7 don't have a dpf. South American fords are interesting. They even sold super duties with Cummins engines

The DPF is not the biggest issue for Diesel engines. The EGR valve is. That's the system that effectively destroys the engine by loading the intake with soot. There are now manufacturers that make EGR filters which are EPA compliant, however, installing that introduces issues withe the manufacturer warranty.

This is because European emission standards, starting with Euro 6b, include PN (particle number) as a measurable emission. This is in addition to PM emissions. PN is measured in number of units per kilometer (#/km).

Neither the EPA nor CARB monitor PN as a measurable emission.

If automakers don't need equipment to meet standards, it doesn't go on: Gasoline engines in America don't need a particulate filter to meet standards.

As for Australia: They base their own emission standards (ADR) on European emission standards. For the current model year, they're aligned with Euro 5, not Euro 6, so it's a little more lax.

Again, if automakers don't need equipment to meet standards, it doesn't go on.

@GON many manufacturers do this. Vehicles, ag equipment, construction equipment etc. emission standards are not universal and in some countries these parts and the experience to fix them can be scarce. Also the manufacturer reeps the benefits of a cheaper to make product.
