Does anyone know what Mercedes 235.70 gear oil is?

I’m servicing wife’s 2022 GLE and Mercedes only gives their “spec” 235.70. I only know that to be a 75w-85. But not gl4-gl5 etc.

According to the Mercedes-Benz Operating Fluids catalog, MB 235.7 is a 75W-85 GL5 rated gear oil. The specific part number for the fluid is A001 989 33 03 12 and comes in a 1 liter container.

“What is it?” - a Mercedes Specification that is different than GL-4/GL-5.

Find an approved list that meets this specification, here:

And double check your manual, there is no 235.70. There is a 235.7 and a 235.71.

Have an unopened 5 gallon bucket of full synthetic synergy gear max 75W–90 API GL5 leftover. I had fantastic luck over the years running it from Evo 8/9s up to F150 Raptors these days. However, this is a little bit different beast and was apprehensive to do so. I’ve seen the 75W 85/75W 90 arguments. Haven’t been bit in the ass in the past, but again this is much more delicate that I’m used to.
