Does a bigger battery reallly last longer?

Boss has a 2008 Passat with 50k miles that still has its original battery. I've tested in twice in the last six months and it still tests strong with over 500 CCA each time. Amazing.

The battery is enclosed inside an underhood box and is a H6 size. New ones from autozone have over 700cca and are humongous.

Maybe the fishing uses a trolling motor that deep cycles them.

Many of my customers bought 78's because of the top posts along with the side posts IIRC. After market stereo's with monster amps are easier to connect to top posts. Having a choice and a small difference in cost, I'd go with a 78 every day.

Right. I'm a bass fisherman and am on my trolling motor all day long. At $250 a pop you learn,quickly,that Bigger batteries can provide more power and last longer on,and,off the water. The bigger the battery capacity,the less the discharge on each use. The less the discharge per use,the more discharges it will last.The difference can be 2x as long with a bigger vs. smaller battery.

I wouldnt call that amazing, my mother's 97 plymouth had the original battery until a bit over a year ago, and our 94 previa we "proactively" changed at 10 years. Both my MBs have 10 year batteries in them.

The varta in my wife;s 08 rabbit is still fine at 50k.
