Has anyone used this for there dodge product. I've did my own maintenance some of my oil change receipts dealer told me they could tell if it's been done or not. They said big thing is to do your 5 yr service.

When the warranty came out (the offer expired, IIRC) you had to report for a 5 year inspection.

I figure they stuck that in the contract to buy themselves five years to come up with "outs" if they later developed what turned into a known lemon on their hands.

Or just keep upping the oil consumption that is allowable

It's all amortized into the required service appointments they make you go to. How much is that five year service, $900?

From what I have read on numerous FCA forums, the lifetime warranty works just fine. Every 5 years you have to take the vehicle in for an inspection, and that is all it is, an inspection with NO $$ charge.

The key point is to make sure that the inspection is entered into the manufacturer's record system. I read a few accounts where the dealer failed to enter the inspection. Then, the owner had a bit of a hassle to produce the receipt and work it through the system. Never trust dealers.

Some owners become irritated when they are denied warranty because they didn't do the inspection. No one to blame but themselves, but they make a stink anyway.

As far as I know, there is no requirement to get any service performed at a dealer (except warranty work, of course). DIY is o.k. as long as you keep records.

dslofti, it seems that your dealer is trying to sell you a 5 year service vs. perform the 5 year inspection.

Follow their rules and if they try anything dishonest go directly to an attorney that deals with that stuff. Usually a Lemon Law attorney although that won't be considered lemon law if the time or mileage is up depending on the state you live in but "Breach of warranty is a powerful tool also" and it works.

Like doitmyself said, it is an inspection (at no cost) and you must take it in to maintain the warranty. According to Allpar, to make it easier on customers, inspections can take place within 60 days before or after the in-service anniversary date (every five years), and are done at Chrysler’s and the dealer’s expense.

Here is an example of the reminder you should get in the mail.

+1

It is only a 5 year inspection, not a service. I would advice those to not miss that 5 year appointment by even a day or you will give them the out to deny the warranty. Quite a few posts of across the web of people "boo-hoo'ing" about the big mean corporate Chrysler monster deny their lifetime warranty when it was the owners who failed to keep up with their 5 year anniversary date. They send out plenty of notices and if you moved and did not update your contact info with them, then you are SOL.
