From the blue line to the circle. the plastic part the hose is connecting to is loose and is leaking anti freeze when ever I push down on the hose the plastic part lifts up from the gasket I believe its called, and antifreeze spills. Is a part broken, do I need a new gasket, did a clip break and I need a new one?? It’s loose and there doesn’t seem to be a way to make it stick to the housing it just moves easily. It’s a dodge journey 2010. Didn’t do much but clean the throttle body then drove around and saw anti freeze everywhere. Please help and thanks to those who do!! :)

can’t be completely sure, but that looks like it’d be the thermostat housing and typically plastic housings just get replaced as an assembly. you don’t usually get new gaskets for that. I could be wrong, I’m not familiar with that vehicle or engine, just going off looks of your picture and my familiarity with Chrysler from awhile ago.

Disassemble and inspect it, could be the gasket or the housing. Its actually 15 years old and plastic degrades from a million heat cycles so thats likely the issue.
Its probably in your best interest to inspect and replace as much of the cooling system as possible, including the radiator, water pump and hoses all in one shot.

I squeezed the clamps before working in the throttle body and it did shoot some antifreeze then but before then it never “exploded” everywhere. So I’m assuming I must’ve broken something.

hello guys might’ve figure out the problem. There are gaps where there shouldn’t be most likely. What I think happened is that since there wasn’t the right amount of anti freeze some engine smoke might’ve melted the plastic a bit. Now WHAT I NEED NOW is to know what the plastic piece is called :). Thank you for those who replied though.

Hello is there a name for the plastic thing? Where could I look to find the plastic part? And is there a metal piece I can replace it with. Thank you. I checked the plastic thing and it seems like bits of it melted. Made a new comment talking about it. Now I just need the name of the plastic thing!

It seems like the plastic thing melted more specifically here’s a picture. Now I’m just looking for the name of the part! Thank you! Most likely what melted is not the right amount of antifreeze and engine heat got into the plastic housing!

Seems like the inside did melt! :O. Now I need the name of that one piece! Could it be cuz there wasn’t the right amount of antifreeze (cuz there wasn’t) and caused the engine heat to transfer? Do you know if there’s a metal piece?? Thank you!!

I have another question . I see what you mean by assembly though is there any way to remove the part I need from the assembly or would that break the part I need? Everything else is fine besides that one piece.. only place I’ve noticed leaking.

You usually replace the assembly as it’s all plastic, not just one part of it gets melted or warped…it’s all compromised. Either get the same thing and it’ll last about the same amount, or get an aftermarket “upgrade” or “fix-it” type part that’s aluminum and of questionable quality and hope it lasts longer.

What you have in these pictures is just a water outlet. The entire thing is likely called the thermostat assembly or housing. You’d have to pull up parts on rock auto or similar and look into the cooling system and find what you’re looking for.

My 2005 Dodge neon is Similar. It's a plastic thermostat housing.

Thank you decided to purchase an aluminum thermostat housing.
