Do magnetic drain plugs just mask UOA results

Just wondering if the magnetic drain plugs or magnets you stick on you filter actually help or just mask your iron, copper wear of your engine when u do a used oil analysis? I guess its better that you have less solid particles floating around????
But are any of the additives in oil polar? such as the zinc/moly/ca?? if they are polar wouldnt some of the crap on the magnet or in the filter with the mag on the outside be your additives?

I'll take crack, though you'll probably get a more thorough response.

Do magnetic help reduce wear? Probably to a degree, but nothing miraculous. I use one

It will only attract ferric particles (iron) so other metals will not be caught by the magnetic.

UOA should not be masked because the UOA tests read metal wear at a much lower micron level (1-15 microns) than what you see the plug removing.

I asked Blackstone this very question. They said it would really make no difference in the used oil analysis.

Thanks guys, so whats better the mag drain plug or the one that goes on the filter? and where would i get one for a Tacoma and a Focus?
