Yep. I think I might have gotten addicted to this forum!

And as the link points out, there is a lot of good things that can come from these forums, but too, a lot of bad.

I do my job from my home (most of the time, dispatching trucks...) so I don't have a problem with work suffering. But I probably fall into the category of procrastinating, such as putting off taking out the garbage, or cleaning the garage

or such...

The phrase about the "endless debating" really hit home with me, as some of you will readily agree! And I actually caught myself lying awake the other night wondering if ekpolk had counter-punched me yet in our syn versus dino UOA debate. And checking the computer on the way back from the bathroom (hey, it's on the way, right?) I learned that he had.

But the info here has really been great. I think, though, that I've absorbed about as much as I can for a while... I think that I've picked up some good habits from this forum, and some good knowledge. My previously held beliefs about motor oil are forever changed--thanks to you guys!

But man... That link about internet forum addiction really has me thinking...

If I look like I'm keeping a low profile for a few days (can I even do that?) then you guys need to know it's nothing personal. And I mean that to all of you. The folks I've enjoyed the most here are the ones who like to take my thoughts to task... ahh yes, the endless debates...

Maybe one post a day? Or should I stop cold turkey as the link suggests, for about six months? And then check in next spring and see if Havoline is still the best...

or ekpolk is still loving GC... or if anyone ever figured out how to get a good UOA out of a Redline run.

The problem is, it's sort of like turning your back on friends... (or is the fact that I consider some of you guys friends just another symptom of my addiction?)

Don't y'all be too hard on me if I don't make it, okay?

Gee Dan, I read this then thought I'd scroll down to see your total posts of only 873. Then I thought, man that ain't a fraction of what Pab...

I resent this remark. Look, I go to forums because I can't stand 99.9% of people in person. Online, that figure is down to about 83.45%.

I have been thinking of posting a question here for some time on how people can efficiently run their lives when theyre on this forum all the time. At work, Im OK, as I go on before work, at lunch and when I take a quick break to relax my eyes and refresh... but at home (Im single so I can do this), Im on here while eating dinner, it distracts me from getting my chores done, etc.

Then again I learn so much that the value is enormous...

All the same, the balancing act escapes me.

Hey, it's all GOOD!!! I tell you what has been on my mind lately. I find myself asking ya'll for help on things I'm weak at...like all the computer questions a few weeks ago when mine started biting the dust. To me, it's like asking your best friend for advice, but in this forum, I feel like I have umpteen of them at once. Sometimes I imagine what ya'll look like....wonder if we could ever hook up for some beer or something....
Maybe I have a problem????? This is place is like a sane remote get away. The opinons....all good. Even the bad ones, makes you think things rut even further. Helps me cover all the bases. One thing I have noticed, I spend more time here on general and off topic than I do the others. When I first joined this forum, I worked out my OCI and oil type I use for which vehicle, did a couple of used oil analysis, and now I'm happy with my regimen and don't want to screw it up with more knowledge, so I hang out on this one particularly.

There's a lot of truth in that article. Most of it is pretty scary, too. Realistically, I am addicted. I use forums as an outlet for boredom during work hours. I really should be doing something more productive, and there is always SOMETHING better I could be doing, but choose not to. Maybe I should put a moratorium on forum use during work and just visit during the evening. Heck, it couldn't hurt my career.

My posts are kinda like cruise missiles.

I read, slam about 10 posts and I'm out. I seriously don't hang that long. Maybe 30 minutes, 3 times a day (Is that too much, will I go blind or something?)

It just ads up. I can't even figure how Patman got so many? And Buster is right on my butt, so why should I slack?

I never had any friends anyway, so what the heck?

I think that a large part of the attraction to this forum is the feeling that we are part of the most popular and foremost site in the world on engine oil.
