Do fuel additives effect oil analysis

Do fuel additives like dry (iso) gas, or Chevron Techron or Amsoil PI or the Walmart branded fuel injection cleaner efffect an oil analysis? Is it only a problem if used just before the oil analysis or is it a problem anytime?

No.

Actually, I tried to find your answer because one of the members here did a test and it didn't affect his UOA. This guy did an insane amount of different fuel system cleaners and it didn't seem to make an impact at all.

Now if your rings are shot then I can see it being a problem. But in a healthy engine I wouldn't sweat it.

However, the search engine here is irritating me so I gave up.

Terry Dyson has made a few posts on here before, stating that Amsoil PI (I think Redline SI-1 as well) can cause higher lead counts, which I believe is why my lead count is high. I am currently using FP-60, which he has stated shows no affects on wear metals, to see if the lead counts come down.

I had Amsoil PI effect my used oil analysis. I do not know if I used to much or whatever. I stoppped using it and used another product. No more higher wear numbers.

When I first started using FP60, my aluminum went from 1 to 5. It showed that way for three consecutive used oil analysis, but then subsided when I lowered the doseage. My lead count went from 0 to 1 during that same time frame - then also went away.

I'm not sure if there's any correlation.

Well I guess the fuel injection cleaners could be cleaning #@$%! out of the engine (good) and just showing up as high wear numbers or could actually be causing high engine wear & numbers (not so good).

I agree. The problem is I do not know if the higher lead #'s etc is cleaning these items (dirty) OR the cleaner is attacking these items/metals (bad).
