In my experience with Chevy V-8s the brand was more prone to noise than the grade.
What I mean is that, for example,my 5.3 runs quiet on any Pennzoil conventional grade but when I used M1 every grade I tried increased the acoustics of the motor.
When I was younger I had vehicles with 305's and 350's and I never noticed any difference in noise from going a grade thicker or thinner than specified, unless it was nearing the bitter end and I was adding a couple quarts of Lucas to slow the burning and banging.
