A few things to note:
-Most of the jack stands are going to come from a couple factories in China. Many of theme are clearly identical.
-People online will always act like you'll die buying affordable jack stands, but jack stand failures are incredibly rare and most of them aren't actual failures.
-Jack stands are incredibly simple. Once the pawl is engaged they can't drop unless the post snaps or the entire stand collapses, both of which will require abuse.
-It's better to use a larger jack stand with the post not very much extended vs. a smaller jack stand with the post fully extended. Side loading can snap the post because it's cast and brittle.
-The Hein Werner stands listed in this thread now come with a Chinese base and aren't probably worth the money. Even when they were fully USA made they often had the same ugly welds on the base as every other brand.
-People online get their pants in a wad over welds on jack stands not being pretty enough, but there's never any evidence they aren't up to the job. Welds failing are incredibly rare.

I would recommend going with 3 ton stands for the extension reason I mentioned above.

-Someone else will point out that low-priced jack stands are sold by the millions and there are very, very few reports of failure, and some of those failures don't even really appear to be failures.
-Someone will say you should spend big money on Hein Werner or US Jack stands. They'll claim you're cheap if you don't buy the expensive stands and you shouldn't try to save a buck on safety equipment.
-Someone will point out that there are complaints about the quality of the welds on both US Jack and Hein Werner stands.
-Someone will show pictures of stands they made.
-The thread will end with everyone thinking everyone else is stupid.
