I've never messed with this but last weekend a buddy that works at a dealer through my car on the rack after he installed a part I was having done. He reset the f/r toe/r. camber on the Sportwagen. On the way home, I noted the steering wheel was not straight and was turned to the left a bit; car drove straight in this position and pulled left when I centered it. Used a buddies excellent video that I can't post a link to b/c BITOG video link posting rules - his YT channel is datadrivenmqb and I'm sure can find his "how to use toe plates" video just scrolling through his videos.

Easy. Did it on the ground by just turning the wheels to lock and I'm even lowered about 1.5" up front and could still do it without jacking the car up. A 25mm and 15mm wrench and zip ties was all that was needed. Jam nuts on tie-rods were easy to free up. I had my toe set to 0 and the tie rods are on the back of the knuckles so with a wheel sitting off to the left, I just added 1/8 turn loosening (lengthen the tie rod) on the left side and same but tightening (shortening the tie rod) on the right side. Test drive. Still was off a bit so did it again with 1/8 turn and bingo, dead-on. I ordered toe plates on amazon after b/c they are nice to have but for this I just used a 2x4 and some chalk and a tape measure and...70 1/4" to the front/rear of the line so still at 0 total toe...perfection! All in took about 30 min. Thank goodness the tape measures coming with the toe plates I ordered have both imperial and metric....metric is so much better for this kind of thing! Now I'll be able to easily check front/rear toe as the track work and hitting all the curbs seems to really throw it off and toe-out up front roasted a set of tires in short order last year.

Yep, that's what I do when replacing front suspension parts, get the tires pointed straight, and then adjust the steering wheel.
That is weird your toe gets off so easily? Not much to bend or shift in a strut car?

I do my own toe also. I have a 4' level that have some plastic set-offs attached to the edge. Put the set-offs on the wheels and make marks on the garage floor in front and back. Measure and if any difference, make the adjustments on the tie rod ends. I do all of my cars and have branched out to golf carts. Yep, neighborhood has about 25 running around, and 17 are now aligned properly 😁.

No clue. Tracks can be rough. Video and still of the 2 wheel'd event....too bad the photographer didn't get a clear one, that would have been epic. Buddy in the white MK8 Golf R behind me.

My way is more tedious and takes more time. Four jack stands and some string. Each front tire is aligned to the adjoining rear tire. Then measure the distance from the string to the tire on the front for the toe in. The tricky part is getting the strings parallel to the tires on the rear.
