CEO's wife divorce settlement...

Douglas-David has filed court papers showing she has more than $53,800 in weekly expenses, including for maintaining a Park Avenue apartment and three residences in Sweden. Her weekly expenses also include $700 for limousine service, $4,500 for clothes, $1,000 for hair and skin treatments, $1,500 for restaurants and entertainment, and $8,000 for travel.

At that rate, Douglas-David would burn through $43 million in less than 16 years. The Census Bureau estimates that the median U.S. household income in 2007 was just over $50,000.

She was offered 43 million to settle the divorce, she refuses!

A week huh? Another example of greed gone wild.

I don't spend $ 4500.00 on clothes in 10 years!

1. I think she could sell a few of those houses.
2. Learn how to drive
3. Cut the hair and skin treatments back to once a month
4. Get a travel trailer and go to the KOA.

If you were to add up all the time it takes to do all those activities, I think you would find this woman would not have enough time to actually spend that kind of money.

how come this guy didn't make her sign a prenup before they got married? What a bad decision! they signed a postnup. this guy used to be a CEO, he can't even handle his own money affairs, I wonder what other bad money decisions he made for his company. lol

The company doesn't have him by the balls...

So many people fall into this trap. A man wants to provide freely for a good woman; a woman wants to test a man and get him to devote himself. This is good and natural. But if they aren't paying attention, it can spiral out of control. Both people sort of fall into a groove and take each other for granted. Next thing you know, the woman is absolutely convinced she deserves half the world, and the man doesn't know what hit him.

It's kind of like what happened between the Big Three and the UAW IMO.

Her lifestyle is proof of the hard work and sacrifice she made to "enable" her husband to have made his fortune. Surely she deserves half for her labors. If her husband doesn't love her anymore, surely he has to give her more than $43M. That's what marriage is all about. I'm pretty sure that's right in the bible isn't it?

Jim,

I might buy that if she had been with him since they were both in their 20's, but it's been 6 or 7 years they've been married and she signed a post-nup for that 43M

Marriage was in trouble by 2004
David and Douglas-David married in 2002, but the marriage was in trouble by 2004, court papers show. Amid a series of reconciliations, the couple signed a postnuptial agreement in October 2005 that would give her $43 million when they divorce.

She is not someone with no education nor job skills and they both agreed to this amount. So why would she be entitled to any more?

I hope if the judge throws out the agreement as she asks, that he make the new agreement only about 1% of what it originally was, or about 430K, and she has to pay his legal fees.

Good gravy, she can't make it on $43 million until she can find work as an investment banker.

I agree. My post was sarcastic. Her contribution to the marriage was to blow money and live large. She had that chance because she is attractive. She shouldn't hit the multi-million jackpot if they don't love each other any more.

Well, she appears to have plenty of mileage left in her. Well versed in upscale social arts. I guess she could put herself back on the market ..but marriages in this league are often regarded as "deals". What appeared like a good merger in concept soured as things progressed.

She was into career advancement ..and it's hard to be demoted (going back to work) after you've sat in the big throne ..err ..chair.

just another day in the life of the distinguished league..eh gary?

What she doesn't realize is that she's just making herself look like an over-indulged pig...which she clearly is.

Good luck finding someone to marry you after you take husband #1 to the cleaners, stupid beeyatch.

Sounds like he sunk himself. I think this 67 year old was thinking with the wrong part his anatomy.

I don't know about her venue. Here, unless the marriage is over 10 years, you probably are not getting any sort of alimony, etc.

So like I said, I hope the judge grants her request to nullify the agreement and amends it to be say 1% of the original value.

I don't think he can really do that, but I can dream, can't I?
