You shouldn't need to make SSIDs to block traffic. Just create a traffic rule that will block a given device at a specified time. For example, you could create a rule to block internet traffic to your kids Playstation from 10PM to 8AM. I have the Cloud Gateway Ultra which is similar.
except CGU has about 20x the processor and no built in slightly gimped WAP.
Can run IDS/IPS (and at gigabit speed)
The Express can route gigabit and doesn't have IDS/IPS. It runs Unifi Network so surely it can run a couple rules without crippling it.
It has the processing power of a stale dorrito. It would have to be tested some people are reporting 100 megabit max speed with pppoe overhead.
Considering it costs as much as the standalone 6+ wap by itself there's obviously going to be some budgetary limitations on performance.
I'm not here to argue performance. All I am saying is that a rule can be made and you don't need separate SSIDs to accomplish this.

It’s for complex needs or really fast wireless internet. Also in certain larger homes or old construction wireless travels poorly(mine).
I have the WiFi for dummies which is Google WiFi with three different little round pods with Ethernet cable I ran between them. My home is center chimney and horse hair plaster which is dreadful for WiFi to travel thru.
An update on this after a few months. I got everything up and going and figured out how to make traffic rules for certain devices. Identifying devices was not a fun process as the auto identification got several things wrong. Overall everything is working good except for the UI on the Express. It is almost unusable through the UniFi UI management site and barley usable directly through the IP address. Takes a long time to connect and multiple attempts. Coverage from the two swiss army knives is great inside and the Express even handles the stuff directly above it. My outdoor coverage isn't as good as it used to be. That makes starting the day hard because I often start up my work computer in the truck to figure out what direction I have to head for the day. My usual parking spot gets poor signal now.
Since I am liking the UniFi ecosystem I upgraded the Express to a UCG Ultra and purchased a U6+ AP. My plan is to use the Express as just an AP and move the SAKs outside to get better coverage in the yard. Not sure exactly where I am going to put the U6+ but now is time of year to climb around in the attic if I have to.
I didn't go with the wifi7 stuff because I wont use that much wireless bandwidth anytime in the next 10 years or better. Our internet service is only 100Mbps so I am covered even if I need more speed in the future.

Thanks for the update. I’ve found that auto identification to be iffy too.
I managed to get the new stuff set up. The ultra works fairly well. I have lots to learn about networking stuff but this looks like it will be much easier now than using the Express as the gateway. I might even have to learn the way of configuring things without using the UI.
Only issue I had was with turning the Express into an AP. This wasn't straight forward and there wasn't much support that I could find from Unifis support site other than there are issues that several people have with them. I wasn't thinking and hooked the network cable to the wan port on the Express. I either missed it or it didn't give me the option when I readopted it it set itself up as a gateway. I hooked the incoming Ethernet to the lan port and factory reset it again and this time it gave me what looked like the mesh option or gateway option. I chose the mesh and it set itself up as an AP with all the ssids my other APs had. I then moved it over to my desk where there is no Ethernet wiring and plugged it in just to see what would happen. It meshed right into the wifi network. Playing around with it more I found both ports operate as lan ports.
Another thing I noticed since I have all the APs hooked up is that all the devices seem to be piling onto one AP. This is looking like wifi channels aren't auto configuring very well. I will have to do more looking into it.
