The other day, that show featured the Fram

factory and showed step-by-step how that put together their oil filters.

Standard construction techniques at least until the cardboard endcaps, which I cringed at the tiny amount of glue that holds them to the filter media... Also, the ADBVs are lined up by actual humans(well, 1 human), and near the end of the line, before they go to be painted, they are laser inspected somehow and the rejects go to a separate area.

What surprised me most was the sheer number of rejected filters going into the 'bad zone'... It looked like one out of every 15 or so was rejected by the machine

I wonder if that's due to the human attempting to line up 30 ADBVs a minute all day?

Anyways, that episode now makes me want to see the Wix and Purolator factories to compare

Good show. Lots of interesting stuff there. Too bad that some items get short shrift. I'd like more in-depth peeking but a little is better than nuthin'.

When trucking got to wander through many factories and assembly plants. Saw Fisher speakers being built, office furniture, etc.

Truckers weren't supposed to wander off the loading docks but I kept a hard hat and clipboard in the truck. Amazing what one can get away with by acting as if one belonged there and had that hat on and the clipboard held in front. Look down at it from time-to-time while wandering. Seldon got stopped and led back to the dock.
