Disappointing WalMart warranty.

Bought an EverstartMaxx battery about 28 months ago. Battery has started causing heavy white corrosion on my battery tie down and often looks wet. Having some periodic slow cranking issues.

Thought to myself, "Hey, these have a 36 month free replacement and 2 year pro-rating after that. Off to WalMart to get a not leaking battery."

Get to Walmart. Battery load tests within limits. Informed the Everstart warranty does not cover leaks, only not holding charge issues.

Really? Offered about $20 towards another Everstart battery. Nope.

Bite me WalMart. Time to spend more for my oil at Advance/Autozone/etc stores.

On a related sidenote: anybody know of a website that lists who makes what battery?

It's happened to me also.
Drain the acid out and replace with water. Bring it back tomorrow. It won't hold a charge or have enough CCA.

That acid is contaminated with lead.

I had everstartMaxx batteries that leaked from the vents. They worked great otherwise.

Put it in a glass jar, leave in shopping trolly at Wal*Mart.

If possible, buy the identical battery at Walmart, return the defective one a few days later using the new receipt.

I've been using Walmart's batteries for years. I've exchanged a few, no questions asked. Just brought them to the service desk and said I needed a new one. Never even tested them, I didn't even know that Walmart had the means to test them.

By the way, you would have the same results at any auto parts store. If the battery tests fine, they won't replace it.

That's very disappointing to hear. One: will try another WM. Two: Leaking acid and/or causing corrosion damage in 28 months isn't a warrantable defect? I can't state my opinion on that without crossing the forum's censor software.

It often depends on who is working the returns desk.

My local Walmart has a couple of Indian girls who can be a major PIA with some returns, they act like they own the place.

Can't; They are serial numbered and have been for some time. Whats worse is if he gets a warranty replacement the new battery's serial is marked as a warranty replacement and they wont replace it again.

Take the terminals off, clean the fuzz off with baking soda clean the top of the battery, use a wire battery brush on the posts and terminals. Grease around the posts with vaseline. Buy a set of battery post felts, soak them in oil. put them on posts and put terminals back on. It is known as maintenance

LOL like the leave it in the walmart shopping cart. Good one. I would go as far as to label it too so they can dispose of it properly.

Or a few nails to short the cell out (you only need to do one).

That is a bunch of doo-doo though , if it's leaking it's a warranty issue and should be replaced no questions .

just kill the battery somehow safely and exchange it.

not all everstart's are JC and keep in mind they are made to walmart's spec.

just like walmart only tires.

And this is why the cost of a new car battery has basically doubled in the last couple of years. Kill the battery and then exchange it? Yet the same posters are complaining when the cost of a new battery keeps going up. If you ran a business and somebody did that to you, would you be happy?

Disappointing WalMart warranty.
