So I picked up a case of 5w30 Formula Shell (Dino) to try in my Toyota 4Runner V6 with around 170,000 miles. I'm just not sure how long to run this oil 5k - 6k? I usually run QSUD or WM ST and change it around 7-8.5k. I bought the Shell for a try my father has used Shell Dino for years and usually gets 200,000+ out of his cars before trade in. Besides it's relatively cheep oil so I figured why not try it.

I have used it for over 7K miles and my UOA looked great in my F150.

I bought 2 years of it when I found it on sale for 2.29 a quart.

Another good quality oil from SOPUS use it w/ confidence. I would use it just like you have been w/ the other oils. I have used it in the past and would not hesitate to use it again.

I ran it in my Hyundai Azera for 5K OCIs and it was quite OK. I could not run it longer due to fuel dilution, but that is not the fault of the oil. I think it is one of the better conventional oils out there.

Why? Because your GTX that you are advising and stated since you jointed is your favorite PCMO is very similar to VWB. Both may be using the same additive supplier.

But good none the less.

Menards occasionally has it for sale at 1.99 a quart. The girlfriends dad has 4 cases of SM Formula Shell he bought for .99 a quart. The dirty dog.

Use it with confidence.
