Digital tv receiver and indoor antenna help

Good evening folks. So I have been thinking of getting a digital receiver and indoor antenna. I'm a newbie on this so any info and advice and suggestions are welcome. I have a small as in 48" newer smart tv also.

Some people use black boxes they get on the internet and get it for free...Im not one of them though..

Get the outdoor antenna and make it happen. The foil in your wall insulation will block signals.

The TV should have an ATSC tuner built in, so you just need the antenna. If you're spending money on a big screen TV might as well put some effort into an aerial as well.

I picked up a couple of the flat indoor anteneas and they are ok. One is in the camper. Got them at flea market from someone who gets Amazon returns for $5 each. Stick in the corner of a window facing known transmitter. Mine have a booster that needs USB for power or smaller power supply-charger.

Those LAVA antennas give me digital terrestrial TV at my camp - hitting an antenna farm 80 miles away ...
About 1/3 of 30 channels are not in English ... but, don't go there to watch much TV ...

Digital (ATSC) reception is built into every modern TV. So you only need an antenna. If you have an old set of "rabbit ears" around, try that first before buying anything. There is no such thing as a "digital antenna" much like people were selling "digital headphones" when CD's first came out.

Well brother is getting me GE antenna and bringing cable with him mid next week. Amazon had one he got me for$19~ also

You can buy just the top part of a Winegard camper antenna for mounting on a house. I think it is called the 2200. I put one on my friend's house and it gets very good reception. Costs about $50 and remarkably, still made in the USA.

Forget the antenna & receiver. Spend the money on a VPN service & stream everything in the world using KODI for free.

Not every TV.. some dont have it.. ask me how I know....

I live 50 miles from any broadcast and have had no luck with a few antennaes. My son bought a QFX ANT-106 from Amazon for $18 and i was impressed. Its an outdoor directional antennae, a pain to assemble, but thats what 17 year olds are for. I cut the cord a long time ago and stream most TV, but this antennae has been an excellent addition.

Not every TV.. some dont have it.. ask me how I know....


I guess it depends on what your definition of a modern TV is. 5yrs old? 10yrs old? I don't know the cutoff date.
