Differential OCI?

2000 Jeep Cherokee with a Dana 30 front axle and Dana 35 rear. Both are open differentials. The Jeep currently has 125k miles on it. I just changed the fluid in both differentials for the second time since I bought it 4 years ago.

I used Redline 75w140 in the rear and Redline 75w90 in the front.

The Jeep is mostly used for short trips. During the semester I drive about 14 miles daily. How long should I wait to change the new fluid? It does have slightly larger tires than stock.

Probably fine out to 30k or longer, depending on whether or not you're doing any towing or heavy loading (off-roading, etc).

I do mine 20-25k

You can use 75/80W90 front and rear 140 is recommended for towing. I swap diff fluid on my ZJs every 30k

Rear Axle
-When equipped, Trac-Lok Limited Slip rear axles require 4 ounces
of Friction Modifier Additive

-Dana 35 - 3.5 Pints (1.66L) SAE 75W-90
-Dana 44 - 4.0 Pints (1.89L) SAE 75W-90
-Chrysler 8.25 - 4.4 Pints (2.0L) SAE 75W-90

For towing and off-road use SAE 75-140 synthetic

If you were towing heavy in Death Valley, yeah, do a change every coupl'a years. Your driving is barely getting the gear oil warm.

I have a 1991 4runner I bought new and do the changes every 60k. over 250k miles and never an issue. Never used synthetic gear oil in it.
