2017-2022 Ford Super Duty F250 F350 appear to have the same front fenders.

ford lists one part number for a 2017-2019 front fender, and a different part number for. 2022-2022 front fender.

Online search’s never identified a difference. I studied pictures of the front fenders and could never locate a single difference. I spent over a year looking to identify the difference, without success.

I purchased a 2020 f350 fender to install on a 2019 F350. At the end, found the difference and it is very small.

The 2020-2022 have a small hole drilled and a clip a few inches up from the bottom/rear of the fender.
I suspect this is to support a minor mounting modification in a 2020-2022 fender, or a slight revision in a trim piece.

The tiny hole is no big deal, and one should feel comfortable using a 2020-2022 from fender in a 2017-2019 Super Duty.

We get calls all the time from people wanting to swap parts from one year to another and want to know what is different. Catalog won't tell us, and I don't stock sheet metal because there is no money in collision sales anymore. So many times I tell people someone somewhere on some forum as probably already done this.

Wonder a little if that extra hole and clip is actually from a mud flap/splash guard install on the newer truck but not on the older. I know my F150 splashguards use a clip in that location that has come off at least once in heavy snow and ice. I could see someone modifying it a bit to make sure it stayed in place with a screw...

That's a very good question.

My pure speculation guess is this plastic piece received an update in 2020, is larger than the piece in the picture, and requires an additional small fastener to secure the revised plastic piece.

I plan on replacing these pieces, maybe I will look into the 2020 and see if revised.
