Here is another vote for "doing it right". Use the proper gear lube (not motor oil) and fill with the proper amount. You have gotten a lot of good miles out of your vehicle. Don't shorten it's life unnecessarily by skimping on maintenance now.
Diff calls for 1.1L of oil, can i fill it with 1L?

Additive packs are worse than incompatible between differential oil and engine oil.
One is essentially acidic in nature, the other basic.

When i do it i will report back after a while and i will tell you of my diff bearings are fried or not.
