Diesel emissions module function 1990 toyota corolla

Hey,

I have a 1990 toyota corolla diesel with mechanical injection fuel pump.
I would like to know what function this emission control module

Has and what would happen if I disconnected it?

Have you confirmed there is actually one of those in your car? There were Electronically Controlled Diesel systems, which are different.

You probably want to start searching by engine number rather than just saying its a 1990 Corolla, which means a lot of things depending on what country it was built for.
 
I'd start by looking over your engine for wires-- there shouldn't be many, but those that are are either sensor inputs or solenoid outputs for that computer.
 
There is one right behind the center console. The engine number is 1c. The car was built for japan.

I disconnected it and heard no difference from engine.
