Hi

Since the new fluid is said to be out at least at the dealer level, how does it differ from Dexron III H ?

Is it backwards compatible with older transaxles, and is there any benefits to be had using it ?

Is there any dangers for older trannys?

GM has said that Dex VI will become the new service fill spec for all Dexron applications, so it is backwards compatible.

Dex VI is a lower viscosity fluid, with more stable dynamic friction characteristics, low volatility, and improved low temp flow properties. It's basically GM taking the steps with Dexron that Chrysler took with ATF+4 six years ago.

Thickness or thiness (viscosity) is only one cosnideration.

In Manual Transmissions, as in ATF's, friction modification is a major consideration.

We have MTFGlide as a replacement for ATF fluids in Manual Transmissions.
