Dexron III H vs. Mercon V

Boy, automotive fluids keep getting more confusing. Is the new "Specification H" version of Dexron III substantially the same as Mercon V, or are these completely different specs? Particullary when GM and Ford are in a co-development project on 6 speed automatic transmsissions, one would hope for some converging specs instead of diverging ones!
