I just got the 02 Camry about a year ago. I was just looking through some of the service records and one item was...Flush Rad Dexcool.

Is that right?

I was going to pull the plug on the rad and drain a bit, but I have the Toyota Coolant 5 year stuff I think.

Thoughts?

No not correct. Toyota Red isn't the same as Dexcrap. I would flush it with either OE stuff or G-05 (any brand without 2-EHa).

Alot of times technicians that don't know any better see red and immediate conclude Dexcool and/or Dexcool will work.

Anyway to confirm it? Would comparing the colors?

So you wouldn't advise mixing the two. I was hoping to drain...run it for few months...drain.

Napa's have Zerex Asian Formula. That would be a good match. Toyota's of the vintage came with LLC (red) or SLLC (pink and pre-mixed). SLLC is the later variant and will work where LLC was OE. The Zerex Asian is a great alternative to the Toyota anti-freeze.

FYI- LLC stand for Long-Life Coolant and SLLC is the Super Long Life variant.

no dec cool in a toyota flush with water very well get it all out and use what belongs in there... When we rebuild them we use the regular green anti freeze...Toyota wants you to use theirs

No, smell won't really tell you. It would be better to be safe than sorry and just get it flushed real good. (unless your comfortable doing it)
