Denso Spark Plug Quality

Usually swear by and only use NGK. Wanted to give these Densos a shot. Ground strap is not centered over the electrode. It is off center to the left.

Bought 2 plugs for a motorcycle. They both were off center.

Any issues?

Clamp a spark plug socket in the vice to hold the plug and then tweak the electrode until it's square if it bothers you.

I've been burned with fake Denso's from Amazon and Ebay on 2 separate cars. "Iridium's" that misfired in less than a year. Electrode worn down to knubs.

Box looks authentic. Gap measures .028 spec is .031 and ground strap already looks angled up although under gapped.

The engraving of JAPAN does not look right. The letters are not perfect. Refer back to that PDF.

What are those scratches above DENSO JAPAN?

Possibly forgery, maybe not. Can you just bend the tip a few degrees, they are very pliable?

If I were a counterfeiter, I would LOVE these documents that Denso, NGK, etc put out. They'd tell me how to make the best fakes possible !

That said, whoever made the OP's plugs did NOT follow that document. I'd put money on it that those plugs are FAKE.

Thanks. Now I’ll be worried every time I feel the slightest hiccup in my car. I got the Denso platinum TT in my BMW from Rockauto. Been about 1 1/2 years. They are a simple swap if anything ever happens at least.

EBAY I would never buy plugs from. Period. Amazon, its a crap shoot. Established auto parts stores, both brick and online, are usually ok.

Rotate them to the right a little bit and they will appear centered as opposed to the current photos which appear to not be straight on.

It is unfortunate the mass amount of counterfeit parts out there now. I believe many sellers may not even know they are selling fake parts. I would say either buy new plugs from a (hopefully) guaranteed source or as others have stated a small adjustment to center it shouldn't affect anything. If they needed a gap adjustment you would do the same, so what could a side shift hurt??

I've used and installed quite a lot of Densos and they don't look like what I have seen. I buy all my plugs on Rockauto, never fleabay.
