Okay have reading the forums for a year now and this response makes me angry, how do I get these guys to say yay or nay on a warranty issue if I want to change my gearbox fluid early and not buy the stuff from the dealer
Erik,
The information available to us indicates that the Cayman manual transaxle
requires a 75w90 GL-5 oil. The Delvac Syn Gear Oil 75w90 is a better match
to these requirements compared to the Mobil 1 Syn Gear LS 75w90 that adds
limited slip additives to the mix.

Luc
To whom it may concern,
I have today bought 4 gallons of Mobil Delvac Synthetic Gear oil 75W-90
for my 2006 Porsche Cayman gearbox. I have read on the internet that
this is a direct replacement for the shc? 75w-90, which is a direct
replacement for the oem Porsche PTX transaxle fluid not available in the
US except through the dealer at extended prices. Is this the right
fluid for me? The woman at the place I bought it from said the Mobil 1
75W-90 gearbox fluid is the same stuff as Delvac whereas I have read it
is not. Please enlighten me as to what the truth is, are the same just
marketed different? Will Gl5 hurt my synchros? I eagerly wait for your
reply.
