Delvac 1300 Super Synthetic since when?

Here is a pail of it at the local Walmart. It says premium synthetic blend.

Delvac uses the heavier EHC GrpII+ as part of the mix. Rest assured many of the store brands use all the EHC they can and still make the USA cut for ”synthetic” - a healthy shot of EHC will also get you to Dexosville … and that’s not a bash - it’s good base stock …

On for $99 Canadian this week at Canadian Tire, plus $15 back in Canadian Tire money on 30x day. That works out to about $60 USD plus tax and environmental fees. It’s hard to beat a deal like that, but I did two summers ago when T5 went on for $20 cheaper. I bought 5 pails and I saw farmers with their wives and kids filling shopping carts with it.
And all the talk about engine oils shearing out of grade? I’ve never seen Delvac, Duron or T6 0W40 or 5w40 thin out of grade over an oil change interval.

The bottles here in Alabama say Synthetic Blend. Delvac 1300 Super is my "Go-to" motor oil in my gas engine cars. 15K mile intervals with outstanding UOA reports.

I’m looking at a bottle right now at the farm store. Still says syn blend, whatever that means in 2024 lol. I’m new to the oil world and I’m trying to find a reason not to run this hdeo oil in my old 90s Toyota v8s… it’s sp rated which is two api ratings above what it required in the 90s. Why shouldn’t I run it?

The quick answer is yes.
API classifications are “back serviceable” meaning API SP covers all the previous “S” or spark ignition classifications.
I believe SJ is the oldest still in use, while the older ones are considered obsolete.
API CK-4 is back serviceable to all previous compression ignition four stroke Diesel engine classifications.
FA-4 is a stand alone Diesel classification and is not back serviceable.
An engine oil that has an API service classification of CK-4/SP in the appropriate SAE grade would obviously be the best choice for mixed fleet operations.

Marketing. I noticed it a couple years ago. We ran the Delvac 1300 in all our trucks at work and it never let us down. Lots of good analysis on S60 egr and non egr, Ford 6.0, Cummins 5.9 12 and 24 valve, Duramax, Mercedes MBE along with an old Ford 7.3

If you want FULL synthetic Delvac you have to buy the HD Delvac. That's what I run in my tractor along with the Mobil tractor fluid

Just picked up a couple of 1 gallon jugs from Walmart and noticed they now say Premium Sythentic Blend instead of the old Long Engine Life Formula

Been using Delvac 15w40 in my Land Cruiser for over a decade now and figured I'd check in here to see if it's some kinda new formula or the same old stuff

Potentially upped their group III ratio's. Which is probably needed to keep meeting new OEM specifications with their lower additives in this product.
