Comments:
Delo is still in the Bike, will run it to 5,000 miles and test again. No oil additives used. FP60 in the gas. Bike sees lots of high speed freeway commuting.

3k miles and giving up metal like a honda or toyota car. hmmmmm, there must be a problem here somewhere. just can't seem to grasp it. on the tip of my tounge. lack of jaso ma? no, that's not it. um, insoluables at 0.1. no, thats not it either. just seem to be drawing a bla.....
i got it!!! is it all the money you still have in your wallet?

Just curious why no comments other then sunruh, and I have no idea what he is talking about. I'm thinking of using Delo 400 in my ZG1000.

Inexpensive oil compared to the motorcycle-specific ones [Delo isn't, hence the "lack of JASO MA" comment] low wear metals, really low insolubles at 0.1 is what sunruh is talking about.

Does this motorcycle share the oil in the sump between the engine and the transmission ?

I curently use Delo 400 at 3000KM intervals on my Honda RC45 with superb results, my gear shifts are far better and engine far quieter, haven't done UOA as its not available here in India.

Sunrah truly believes that a conspircy exist over regular motor oil and motorcycle oil. That the oil companys and motorcycle manufactures are misleading the public about motorcycle oils vs. regular motor oils and diesel motor oils. Price difference between Motorcycle oil and Motor Oils is about two to three dollars....Specific oil being higher. He also claims that Motorcycle oils don't last near as long either compaired to Motor oils.

The OEM's state that SM or Diesel oil can make clutch packs wear at a faster rate. Jaso MA is a Japanese Oil Spec that meets the OEM's friction quotations/specifications.

Forgot to mention that the lab was Blackstone.

The bike has had either Delo 15w40 or Rotella 5w40 for most of the miles.

The Delo seems to work well in this bike, low wear numbers and the TBN is still good. The Delo is still in the bike and I'll be sending in the 5,000 mile sample in a few weeks.
Not too bad for an oil that cost me $1.75 a qt and a "car" oil filter.

Craig, yes the oil is shared between the engine and transmission. The engine is a water-cooled V4 with a 4 qt oil sump.

rick,
can't wait to see the 5k uoa!!!

p.s. you ever take the "hill" ride between Yorba Linda and El Toro? fun fun fun!!!
especially at night!

As I suspected,Delo 400 shows to be a winner again in the Motorcycle industry. I have been running Delo 400 15/40 in my RMZ450 and YZ250F faithfully. When I first saw there make-up package I was hooked. I drop My oil every 2 outings at the track,or 3-4hrs.With the price of this oil and my oil change intervals, this just backs up what some of us already known. Look at the phos, and zinc levels still!

Still in grade, and also holding a awesome flashpoint. It is really sad that the market has consumers purchasing M/C specific oils at 8.00-10.00

dollars a qrt,and the VOA are sub-par let alone the UOA.
thumbsdown.gif
Even some of the top runners shear out of grade very quickly, compared to what you pay for it! As I always expected in a MX motor, use Delo 400 change often, and a top synthetic cannot beat the price compared to the use you get out of this oil. Awesome, thanks Rick A for posting this, good choice of oil to pick for your ride.
cheers.gif

This oil feeds Tractor trailer motors CAT,DETROIT,CUMMINS,ETC.Big trucks, that go for in the 100,000 dollar plus range.8.50 a gallon at advance or auto zone. We seen some M/C oils that don't even come close to holding there grade and some with low phos and zinc levels and yes even synthetics,8.00-10.00 DOLLARS A QRT.Sickening

Down with the marketing of overpriced M/C OILS.
thumbsdown.gif
Please do not respond with Delo has Moly, your clutch will slip. Better take a look at some of the M/C oils YOU WILL BE SUSPRISED. I have been running this oil from the beginning on My RMZ 450(MX)MOTOR,without clutch issues or slippage.120hrs, engagement is still strong and positve with 0 slippage, and some pretty decent loads put on it.(sand course) Moly give it to me!

At 11000 rpm, the clutch on my Honda RC45 behaves same as with the exotic Motul synthetic $$$$ MC oil, the only thing is with Delo, I can afford a 3000Km oil change, with Motul, thats a surefire way to bankruptcy.

Sunruh, the closest I get to the Yorba Linda to El Toro run is my commute to work. I use the 241/261 between the 91 freeway and get off in Tustin. The ride through the hills is nice and at 5AM it is dark.
