Does that computer come with a discount on my PG&E bill, given that that decade old CPU performs worse than the one in my cheap thin and light consumer grade laptop while using 10x the power? https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/3821vs6303/Intel-Xeon-W-2235-vs-Intel-Ultra-5-226V

I got an off lease HP workstation for a friend for a custom project. He is well past 100 GB of memory in the thing, but my macbook m3 will run circles around it unless it's his specific project that needs that ram.

Everytime he turns it on, the lights in his room flicker.

My work has Dell workstations that are over 10 years old. They are all high end when purchased new. Over the years they add more RAM, replace SSDs, graphics cards, etc to squeeze more life out them. They are mostly Xeon type processors. Lately they have switched over to Lenovo workstations. The IT guy said they could no longer justify the Dell prices on workstations compared to Lenovo.

Heck even my wife's new Lenovo yoga laptop with an AMD Ryzen AI 7 445 mops the floor with that Xeon.

Did manage to score that laptop with 32gb of RAM for only $1,000 though... Regular price was $1450. The base spec with a Ryzen 5 and 16gb RAM was $1200 🤷‍♂️
