Deep or shallow sockets

There is not one is better than the other answer, some of the most expensive and highest quality ones have CR-V stamped on them. The truth is these are made from an alloy not the regular CR-V tool steel of which there are also many grades and types.
The cheapest trash tool with usually have CR-V stamped on it, that does not make it the same steel as used in top shelf tools. I have had my Stahlwille impacts for 30 years and used them a lot and they are a CR-V alloy which almost certainly contains some MO.

I have an old (60 yr old) double deep box wrench that has Chrome Moly Vanadium Steel in raised letters. I am just a old wrencher and no metallurgist but there is a lot more to tool steel than most people think or a stamping.

They're very good sockets for the money, and if you have a problem they'll replace the socket/sockets. I have Tekton as well and they seem to be a quality tool for the money.

I don't wrench much but I've never wished I had a shallow impact socket. Buy the deep set.
