(Peak Oil was discussed here.)

But if this is true, it will be a day mankind will share. Using Hubbert's methodology (who calculated accurately when production in the U.S. would peak in the 70's) he gets this date.

The best 'alarmist' web page seems to be LATOC (2 pages with lots of links for references). There are reasons why conservation, nuclear, hydrogen, ethanol are not going to solve the problem of an economy based on cheap plentiful oil.

If nothing else, it's another wakeup call. Heating, electricity, gas and of course the cost of transporting food and products - we've seen this begin. We need to prepare now, short-term, and solve, long-term.

Add "conspiracy theory" to Peak Oil issues. What if the oil companies make even more money as they pump less oil (inelastic demand in Econmic terms). They can blame nature, war, or finally peak oil:
Bakersfield refinery.
