Dealing with rusty PS pulley

So my boat engine has a PS serpentine pulley has some rust. I will wire brush the rust but then do I paint, if so what would be best. Not looking to overdo things here. I was thinking of some Permatex Rust Converter and calling it a day.

Will the belt wear off any paint?

Future options are a new pulley or new aluminum pulley or getting mine powder coated. Probably an over the winter project

If it is in a easy location to paint. A can of Rustoleum is just a few bucks. Paint it and forget about it.
