So I have these issues with my Chrysler 300. Have a clunking/springing sound coming from left front end. Have a issue when I turn the wheel to the left I get a rubbing noise/grinding nose. In addition having a diving feeling when I go over bumps. So I already realize before I go to dealer that I need struts, sadly at 70,000 miles but not too shocked. The other issues are troubling me, very easy to replicate. Brought car to dealer, they said my wait wouldn't be to long and they look at it, 3 hours later they give me a bill for $97.00 and tell me they could only replicate a faint noise once and that it has to get worse before they can figure it out. I asked them how do you think my front struts/shocks are and they said they are fine. What they don't know is I went out back where my car was, for 2 hours it sat there on top of the hoist, but never lifted, if they lifted it maybe they did it when I went to the bathroom once, I just sat on the steps near the repair building and watched, nothing happened.

I didn't know where to go with my issue, can't take my vehicle there, they just lie about it or replace what didn't need to be replaced. So I took it to belle tire. They replaced the fronts struts, then they told me they couldn't align it because outer tie rod was shot. Then they said the rattle noise was coming from bad sway bar bushings. They showed me them, quite obvious they are shot, because it is cracked and pushed out and looks almost dry rotted, they other one not so bad, but had them replace both, I don't have a minutes time anymore to do that simple job.

I wish I could post my video of my shocks I made after I left the dealer. I went home a filmed how bad the shocks where, How easily the pushed down with no resistance and the video after they where replaced( Night and Day)

I just want my money back from them, I wonder if I contacted Chrysler they would help me. It's really not about the money but the principal of not doing there job and ripping me off.

What to do?

Why wouldn't you try another dealer.

Oh they only charged you 100 bucks for 3 hours of diagnostic time, that is a pretty good deal. Not only that but they could have LIED to you right then and there and handed you a bill for a thousand to replace things that didn't need to be done.

Frankly I don't know why you are complaining. Compared to most folks you got off easy.

Instead of 3 hours of diagnostic time, it sounds like they charged him for his car being in the shop for 3 hours. There is a difference.
Time to stay with the shop that genuinely fixed your vehicle and dump the dealer.

I'm surprised you paid them after you watched them do nothing. Sounds like you have already found a better place to take it for service. I don't understand anyone using dealer service after warranty is up. You'd be better off literally flushing cash down the toilet. You'd waste the same amount of money but save a lot of time.

That's why some call them STEALERSHIPS.......Thats a lot of miles for a 2+ year old vehicle.

Looks like you found a good independent repair garage....

i dont know if lemon law would be of any help but breach of warranty may be in order and there are Lawyers that may take this for free
i dont know the laws in your state but check it out..

I'm shocked that people still expect dealers to do good repair work. Never. Go. To. The. Dealer! Well, unless you want to buy a new car, or for warranty work and even then keep a sharp eye on what they do.

It would seem they ripped you off--lightly, despite some of the critical comments you've received here. Maybe you should think of this as a learning experience, costly as it is. Stealerships probably have several advantages over you though. For one thing, some of them probably rip people off every day, maybe even all day long, and you can be sure if they do, they also have a lot more experience than you in how to cover it up. Some of the best liers I've ever met know how to counter any arguements and confrontation that come up, either because it comes natural to them, or they've had a lot of practice at it! It seems that a goodly number of those types end up as service writers with rather limited listening skills!

Because I know myself, as Plato advised, I avoid dealerships like a pest house! Except for warranty work and heavy repairs, I do all my own parts changing and maintainence. I'd rather not engage in confrontations with those types for reasons that would not be appropriate to mention here. Go elsewhere if you can.

So they supposedly worked on it for three hours. You saw the car for 2 of those hours. Doesn't that give them an hour to look at it? They charged you $97, which is an hour of labor. They should have had you go for a ride with them. You should never let any shop diagnose a problem like this, or a drivability problem, without first going for a ride with a tech. This will save you much money and headaches.

I agree with most posts above. I only go to dealer for warranty works and/or free services (free schedule maintenance). I found a trusted mechanic more than 15 years ago, I have all my cars serviced there since. Never over charged, and best of all he only fixes what broken and try his best to find lowest cost but good quality parts.

Last time I took my LS400 there was for broken belt idler pulley, belt tensioner and fan clutch and blade(all these parts are original on 18 years old 290+k miles car). He changed all these items plus serpentine belt for $300 out the door. I think Lexus dealer may charges up to $1000 or more.

my dad and i have bought about 8 new chrysler cars/trucks, over 25+ years. i learned this, when you buy a chrysler ITS YOURS.

Part of what I think I will buy another Honda- my dealership took a look at what I thought was a broken motor mount because of vibration. He couldn't replicate the vibration, checked the mount, said it was fine and handed me my keys. When I asked how much, he said, "I didn't do anything. Bring it back if it gets worse and we might be able to find out." Never had that happen with any of my 3 Chryslers.

Antique shell are your eyes old too, read closer, they didn't do ANY diagnostic. You can go ahead and pay for the service I had for nothing, I like to do business with you too.

I'm still under power train warranty. I thought maybe it was a engine mount or something they would cover under my 100,000 mile warranty.

Well I do few road trips that eat up 800 miles a trip, do about 8 plus of those a year. In addition I drive 56 round trip to work 5 days a week or more. I drive my wife to work and pick here up that put additional 24 miles a day on my car. But's it's all good paved roads, nothing should be betting my car to death. The miles are adding up. I used to drive only 8,000 to 10,000 per year. How things change when you need employment and it's located further away.

Better built OEM parts would be nice. The Moog outer tie rod end I had put on, looks like it goes on a German Panzer, the O.E.M. part looks like it goes on a Kia. I learned one thing, not all O.E.M. parts are as good as after market.
