dealer service overfill; what to do?

The reallllll question is: Will you be able to get the oil pan plug out since it's likely torqued to 300lb. Rubber mallet time! Kidding!

It's going to bother you daily if you don't drop the oil and filter and do it right, yourself. I would have to do it.

Not sure if a MityVac would work on it but that is what I would do if it were mine. I really have had bad luck at dealerships doing a half a job on vehicles and would rather just do it myself. I have free oil changes on my Maverick but I doubt I will have a dealership do it even though it's free.

I would suck out the excess oil and leave it at that. No reason to change completely unless your OCD won't leave you be.

It's easy to overfill. I've done it countless times myself. Using the wrong oil is egregious, and unlikely.

The filter should be 3/4-16, no? So lots of affordable options there.
Nope. It's a 20mmx1. Something. Same filter that fits the trooper will work on it. Although the trooper filter has a lower bypass relief pressure.

Wix 51069 is the crossover for the Kubota filter and I bought 2.

I can't suck it out. For some reason the tube won't fit down the dipstick tube. I pulled the plug and drained some that way

How much of an overfill? Like a rounding error or an egregious mistake? Former, don’t sweat it. Latter, do something about it.

To err is human... No one is perfect and to expect perfection from anyone is 1) unreasonable and 2) lacking introspection as I’m sure we have all goofed up plenty ourselves. Even in things we were paid to do. Can anyone here honestly say they’ve never screwed up at work before - doubtful.

I’m so tired of gross incompetence everywhere, and as I get older I become less tolerant of it. I shouldn’t know more about some topic than the “professional”, but I often find this to be the case. Realtors, car sales people, auto service shops, doctors…. I hate having to rely on others.

I was looking at a Fiesta ST years ago, and the sales guy kept calling the Recaro seats Ricardos.
Manufactured by the Ricky Seat Corporation...which would make them Ricky Ricardos.

I'll see myself out now...

51069 is the oddball 13/16" thread of which GM was fond. For all intents and purposes, 13/16" is 21mm, which anyone with Ford lugnuts knows ;)

13/16" threads aren't really a thing except in the oddball world of oil filters. You won't readily find a tap or die in any kit (although surely special order available).

You may be thinking of M20x1.5, used extensively in import applications like the 4610/4612/4615, 6607, 7317, 9688 and several I'm forgetting :D

I didn't know Kubota used the 13/16" thread, so learned something there. Thank you!

It holds 3.2qts and I drained 2 qts out and it's still slightly above full.

Any diesel smell to it? That is quite a bit of overfill! I guess not ideal, but probably for most of your hours so far, the engine is just spinning at 2000rpm making 20% or less of its rated power, so a bit of foamy oil isn't hurting the bearings to much... I guess check to see if it pushed out a seal anywhere on the engine, and if not, carry on!
I would run 15W40 for the hot days, as 3L isn't an excessive amount of oil. My tractor complained a bit with a recent 0F start with T4 15W40, but anything above 15-20F is a normal start really.

My LS3 V8 Chevy SS Sedan takes 8 quarts of oil. As V8 sedans are un common while V8 pickups are very common, but take only 6 quarts of oil…how many quarts do you think I got at the dealer for that one free oil change?

I added 2 myself and have done all subsequent oil changes MYSELF!

Sorry it's a 51064... Not 51069

Kubota (M25} diesel in my 86 Catalina sailboat. Rotella T6 15W40 and all good. Always DIY for this kind of stuff, even if no charge at the dealership. Only operated between May and October in snowy MI.

I could not take the OCD any more. Got home from work. Warmed it up and changed the oil and oil filter.

The filter was scary loose! It somehow was not leaking but I was able to take it off with just 2 fingers. No grunting at all .

Glad I re did their work. I can rest easy now although a Wix filter would not be my first choice it is what it is.

I also greased the pins on the bucket while it was up.

Check your front axle oil level too while you’re at it. With my model, everyone was saying theirs was under filled. Sure enough, mine was too.

Looking through my oil stash, and noticed I've still got a couple of jugs of T6 5W-40. This stuff is the older version, with a LOT more ZDDP than the current formula. It's getting old now, so gotta put some focus on using it up. Lawn tractor would be ideal usage...

I didn’t realize Rotella changed their formulation. I know they dropped the gasser API SL or whatever it was, but I was unaware of any formulation change. Same with T5 10w30.
